I am curious to know what you see. The random connection of forms and bright colour I found in this image reminded me of a gummy bear. The phenomena of pareidolia, randomly seeing familiar shapes, like when cloud watching, was a critical and surprising aspect of the digital print series titled Spelunking the Digital in Search of Future Fossils, Sex & Candy that this print, DecimateMeshEdible is part of. In this series, 3D objects were photographed up to 100 times in the round, then compiled digitally to create a 3D digital model, which was then manipulated and further explored through various functions such as an X-ray format. Images were chosen based on their uncanny organic nature in pixilated form and, in some cases, further manipulated in photoshop to bring them to life in full colour. This series was an exploration into unknown territory for me- the digital and digital 3D realm. It is essential at this, the emergence of the digital art realm and the dawn of NFT art, that we question what we see, what we uphold, and its relationship and correlation to ourselves and our earth.
